About Downriver Renovations

Hello!

My name is Russell D. Williams(Rusty). I love to build, renovate and fix things. I was born in 1963 in Spokane, WA and at a very young age my dad, who specialized in painting, drywall and remodel work, taught me how rewarding construction could be. In 1979, at 16 years of age, I began working for a group of architects who were also commercial building contractors. It didn’t take long to realize a career in construction was my passion!

Since those early days of formal training and union carpentry, my work experience includes commercial projects like tilt-up buildings, schools, hospitals, even the Tacoma Dome stadium. I’ve also spent many years honing these skills:

  • Framing custom homes and apartments
  • Concrete foundations
  • Flatwork
  • Roofing
  • Siding
  • Building and installing cabinets
  • Door and hardware installation
  • Windows
  • Tile work
  • Ornate trim work

I really love Renovating Kitchens, baths, Entire houses!

After working and developing my skills from my 45 enjoyable years in the construction industry, here is what I deeply value in all my projects:

  1. Always begin with a well thought out plan and engineered design, NEVER just “wing it”.
  2. An appropriate, realistic budget should then follow. Don’t shortcut or skimp on the pricing. Do not hide the numbers- transparency is a must.
  3. Build solidly, efficiently, correctly. Focus on quality, never evade proper building codes/rules.
  4. Always put your heart into the job-whether it be large or small.
  5. Hard Work - not a Lazy approach, attack any work like it's your very own. Never blame others for your own mistakes.
  6. Apply the Golden Rule- be honest in all things and accept responsibility
  7. Do not leave loose ends, use a thorough punch list to completion. Make sure every last item is completed to satisfaction and industry standards.

Our team at Downriver Renovations looks forward to working with you!

Here’s what our clients have to say about their experience with us:

We hired Rusty for some help with two unfinished projects (unfinished basement and garage) on our cabin in Priest Lake, Idaho, and I can honestly say it was a terrific experience, start to finish. From our very first meeting, it was clear that Rusty was not only knowledgeable and professional, but also someone we could trust. That trust was earned over and over again—every detail, no matter how small, was handled with incredible care and precision. What impressed us most was the way he balanced high-quality craftsmanship with careful consideration for budget, finding creative ways to reduce costs while maintaining a high level of quality. There were no surprise costs, no last-minute upcharges—just honest communication and thoughtful planning from start to finish. Rusty kept us updated every step of the way, and we always felt heard and included in the process.

If you're looking for someone who takes pride in their work, respects your time and money, and genuinely cares about the outcome of your project, I can’t recommend Rusty highly enough. We’re beyond happy with the results of our cabin renovations—and we’ve already recommended him to family and friends around Priest Lake, Spokane, and beyond.
